Rubber Hits The Road In 2011 Excellence Awards

Media Release: Thursday 9 June 2011

Rubber Hits The Road In 2011 Excellence Awards

Entries are now open in the 2011 Roading Excellence Awards.

Now in its seventh year, the Roading Excellence Awards promote outstanding leadership, collaboration, excellence and best practice in the design and construction of land transport infrastructure.

Roading New Zealand chief executive Chris Olsen says the high standard of entries makes for an exciting competition and expects a strong response to this year's awards.

"Last year's entries were simply superb and I'm sure this year's no exception.

"These awards are a great way to showcase the skills and talents of those working in our roading industry and I encourage all organisations involved in roading projects over the last year to get involved. New Zealanders will be eager to see what the 2011 competition will bring.

The Awards offer organisations a chance to be recognised for their work, and provide an opportunity to review past projects and gain inspiration for the future.

Kevin Reid, New Zealand Transport Agency Team Manager for the 2010 Supreme and Major Road category award winning Tauranga Harbour Link Stage 2, says the Awards were a great opportunity for the whole team to be recognised.

"Getting together to prepare our entry was a great opportunity for our project team to reflect on the challenges we faced, how we overcame them and the successes we achieved."

"Winning this award also acknowledged that the New Zealand Transport Agency is an organisation with a culture that encourages and supports innovation, collaborative working and excellent customer service."
