Jetstar Update: Puyehue-Cordon Caulle 14/6/11 1400 AEST

Update on Jetstar New Zealand and Australian Services: Puyehue-Cordon Caulle Volcano

MELBOURNE, Australia, June 14 /Medianet International-AsiaNet/ --

Jetstar wishes to provide a further update (as at 1400 AEST) on its Australian and New Zealand services (Trans Tasman and domestic) as a result of a volcanic ash cloud caused by Puyehue-Cordon Caulle volcano in Chile.

An update on Jetstar operations this afternoon:
* Adelaide flying cancelled for the remainder of today
* Tasmania flying cancelled (Hobart and Launceston) for the rest of today
* New Zealand operations including all trans Tasman and New Zealand domestic flying, cancelled today.

A summary of today's cancelled Jetstar services are listed below.

Jetstar is exploring every option possible to recover affected passengers, including scheduling extra flights as soon as possible to do so. We are committed to safe operations and are seeking to minimize the disruption caused to our customers. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We encourage our customers to continue to check Jetstar.com for updates on our services, and we will endeavour to keep passengers informed about their recovery flights as soon as we possibly can.

The safety of our passengers and crew is Jetstar's number one priority. Jetstar will not be flying into airspace that remains affected by the ash cloud until we are confident that it is safe to do so.

Our approach to flying is based on the Qantas Group's high standards of safety and risk assessment.

As a Qantas Group airline, Jetstar like Qantas has in place the same monitoring and assessment processes and Jetstar continues to review the status of its operations to affected ports.

We continue to review the situation and should future flights be affected we will notify passengers directly.

Jetstar is liaising with affected passengers and offering them the following options free of charge:
* Defer travel: Customers may defer travel. Travel must be completed by 31 August 2011
* Re-routing to get passengers to their end destination. Travel must be completed by 31 August 2011
* Full refund or voucher to the value of the booking.

How to keep informed:

Booked Jetstar customers can check the status of their flight under the 'Flight Status' section of Jetstar.com. If customers have pre-registered their mobile phone number with our airline (at the time of booking), Jetstar will inform you via SMS to that mobile phone of any new Jetstar service that comes on line or any further flight cancellations.

Jetstar.com will continue to carry a full list of daily cancellations, as well as list new services, until the resumption of normal services across our network.

For more information customers are advised to call the Jetstar Contact Centre direct on:

* From Australia (Freecall): 131 538
* From New Zealand (Freecall): 0800 800 995
* From Singapore (Freecall): 800 6161 977
* Alternatively, call +61 3 9347 0091 (tolls will apply).

Jetstar is currently experiencing unprecedented call volumes to our call centre due to the magnitude of this event. We ask customers to please be patient as we deal with a large number of customer inquiries.
