Exclusive use of ride for conference and incentive groups
Rotorua, 6 July 2011 -
‘Project Big Splash’ – an exciting new development at Rainbow Springs is set to be a hit with the conference and incentives market with the park revealing that the ride will be available for exclusive use at evening functions, adding another dimension to what is already a popular night-time experience.
The multi-million dollar water ride will take boats of up to 8 people on a fun and educational journey through the ecological evolution of New Zealand. The high-tech ride will feature a running commentary, animations and an adrenalin boosting drop at the end.
Rainbow Springs Project Director Stewart Brown says, “This new ride will be a unique way to ensure that groups start off their evening buzzing with excitement”.
Conference and incentives groups can enjoy drinks and canapés at Rainbow Springs’ recently renovated café area before going on the exciting ride. Rainbow Springs caters for functions of up to 200 people with the café’s new enclosed deck area being located in front of its stunning waterfall feature.
The project also includes construction of an outdoor 400-seat, free-flight bird show auditorium, an interactive children’s playground and a new reptile enclosure. The development is the largest single investment made in the park since it opened in 1932.
The multi-million dollar attraction is officially underway following a traditional blessing and symbolic ‘breaking of the ground’ onsite at the Rotorua Park last month which signaled the start of construction.
“The new-look Rainbow Springs will appeal to a broader audience, educating and exciting at the same time. It will also help enhance Rotorua’s profile as a destination to visit, not only within the domestic market but also overseas,” Mr Brown says.
The $10 million plus project has been many months in the planning and will open in early 2012.
