Fresh information on the health of the NZ economy has been thin on the ground this week, especially as the March quarter national accounts release has been delayed until next Thursday. The NZIER?s quarterly survey confirmed strength in business sentiment, investment and hiring plans already seen in other surveys, while vehicle registration numbers for June show activity flattening out for commercial vehicles and cars.

The Kiwi dollar hit a new post-float high against the greenback near 83.3 cents but has ended little changed from a week ago against practically all other currencies.
