2011 New Zealand Security Conference


The New Zealand Security Association has released the programme for the 2011 New Zealand Security Conference to be held at the Rendezvous Hotel, 71 Mayoral Drive(corner Vincent Street, Auckland, on the 17th and 18th of August.

The conference theme is “Preparing for the Future: and will include presentations on Disaster Planning and Management and international security standards. Speakers will include:

• Adam Montella, considered one of America’s top disaster planners. With more than 25 years of homeland security and emergency management experience in the public and private sector. Adam helps organisations prepare for, respond to and recover from natural and man-made disasters. He currently serves on FEMA’s National Response Framework (NRF) Working Group and the National Advisory Council’s Public Engagement & Mission Support Subcommittee. In addition, he is the on-camera Homeland Security and Disaster Expert on the Discovery Channel series, The Colony.

• Dr. Marc Siegel, the Commissioner heading the ASIS International Global Standards Initiative. He represents ASIS International, the preeminent international organisation for security professionals, at the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and at regional and national standards forums. He works with ASIS International and national standards bodies on five continents to develop international and national risk management, resilience, security, preparedness, and continuity standards as well as provides training on their implementation.

• Shayne P. Bates, an internationally recognised security executive with experience in the information, physical and homeland security disciplines. He collaborates with stakeholders on a global scale, including clients, colleagues, government and law enforcement agencies and serves as a key strategic business partner to executive teams. He now chairs the ASIS Information Technology Security Council and is a periodic advisor to the US Security Industry Association. Shayne helped create the business strategy of a cloud-based provider delivering hosted physical security technologies and now leads the security cloud strategy development as a consultant to Microsoft Global Security based in Redmond, Washington.

In addition the conference will feature a number of local speakers, many of whom will be sharing their experiences and the lessons learnt from the Christchurch earthquakes.
