The Americas Gain Momentum With Kiwi Travellers

New Zealand’s largest travel agency, Flight Centre, predicts travel to the Americas, Canada and Alaska will continue to gain popularity in 2012, with a combination of factors making it more affordable and accessible for Kiwi travellers.

As a result, Flight Centre will hold a dedicated Travel Expo on Sunday, 14 August with a focus on USA, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, South America and the ever popular Pacific Islands. Flight Centre stores around the country will also hold in-store expos over the same weekend and will have access to some of the amazing deals.

Flight Centre New Zealand’s executive general manager, Mike Friend, said factors that were contributing to a steady demand for travel to the Americas included:
- A strong Kiwi dollar against the US dollar
- Increased competition from airlines to deliver low prices
- Increased capacity on a number of airlines
- Improved tour and cruise options.

“Never before have the Americas been so affordable and accessible for Kiwis travellers with the Kiwi dollar riding high against the greenback,” Mr Friend said.

“We have worked with the travel industry’s leading airlines, tour operators, cruise lines, wholesalers and tourism bodies to bring the latest travel options under one roof at this Travel Expo.”

The Expo will be held at the ASB Showgrounds and will include exclusive flight specials to the Americas, along with amazing holiday options.
