ISPANZ encourages content providers to join

ISPANZ encourages content providers to join
29 August 2011

The Internet Service Provider Association of New Zealand (ISPANZ) today announces it is inviting New Zealand’s Internet content provider organisations to join ISPANZ, on an equal basis to existing members. This means they can also benefit from a fee holiday in place this year and so get to know the organisation before financially committing.

ISPANZ has a range of members ranging from access providers to Internet hosting organisations: http://ispanz.org.nz/members

President Jamie Cairns says the addition of Internet content providers to ISPANZ is seen as a logical extension that fits within the concept of “organisations that provide Internet services”.

“We are all looking to deliver Internet services in a fast changing environment, dealing with public concerns, self-regulation and Government regulation.

“ISPANZ promotes a fair and competitive marketplace and there are many common areas of concern for content providers and our existing membership including for example copyright, lawful intercept and IPv6.

“It makes sense to get together and provide a combined capability to address such issues where appropriate. If there are separate areas to address they can be handled using separate working groups.”

There won’t be any changes to ISPANZ membership process and constitution immediately. “ISPANZ holds its Annual General Meeting towards the end of each year, and if changes are needed they can be addressed at that point, with the content provider as part of the conversation,” says Cairns.
