Ziptrek Ecotours weighs in for school holidays

Little zippers heading to Queenstown’s newest adventure activity can now ride the world’s steepest tree-to-tree flying fox for the first time.

A new tethering system allowing the weight minimum to be reduced from 40kg to 30kg means younger children (six years and older)can now take part in the exciting Kea 6-line Tour.

General Manager for Ziptrek Ecotours Stu Cordelle said the new minimum weight limit is great for families and was strategically put in place in time for the school holidays.

“Many children really want to ride the steepest and longest ziplines and we’re delighted to have this in place for them. The extra two lines of the Kea Tour are a real buzz and it’s great to be able to offer it to adventurous but literally lightweight children – it means the Kea has become a real family adventure activity where kids and grownups can play in the tree huts then zip between them,” he said.

“The tandem option on the Moa Tour is still available for children over 6 years of age but who don’t meet the 30 kg weight limit, but we do need to know in advance if anyone wants to take advantage of the tandem option.”

The high-velocity Kea 6-line Tour opened in November 2010 building on the company’s original Moa 4-Line Tour and provides an extended ‘zip into town’ experience that includes a picturesque 20 minute trek through ancient native beech forest on the Tiki Trail.

After the trip, families may want to pick up the fabulous new Ziptrek Tag Cloud t-shirt. Earlier this year, Ziptrek Ecotours was awarded a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence* based on its frequent positive comments from customers. The company used the opportunity to design a new ‘Tag Cloud’** t-shirt based on the comments.

“The t-shirt is an unedited word cloud of all feedback that we have received from Trip Advisor from September 2010 to September 2011. It expresses what our customers think of us! A word cloud represents words graphically based on hierarchy of most used to least used. This is the top 120 most used words.”

Walking its sustainable talk the Tag Cloud t-shirt has been printed on 100% organic cotton.
