Confidence Almost Disappears

Our monthly BNZ Confidence Survey sent out last Thursday night and largely answered on Friday has revealed a sizeable decline in optimism about the strength of the economy in a year’s time.

Only a net 6.9% of the 391 respondents expect improvement, down from 36.3% in September.

The latest result is thelowest since immediately after the February 22 earthquake and continues a downward trend in place since the record level of sentiment recorded in June.
