WASSP Ltd Appoints New General Manager

WASSP Ltd has today announced the expansion of the company’s senior management with the appointment of Ian McDonald as General Manager.
The role is a newly created position and will see Mr McDonald overseeing WASSP’s international sales & marketing strategy for their multibeam sonar products.
Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, Mr McDonald has vast experience in the marine and offshore sector and has worked with over 300 technology and life science companies and research institutions in the UK and around the world. He also holds a BSc in Technology & Business Studies from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, as well as a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Imperial College, London with a specialisation in the Management of Innovation.
More recently Mr McDonald held the position of VP Corporate Development, for Foster Moore Limited - a specialist developer of electronic registries for legislative and governmental agencies. The position saw him develop and execute Foster Moore’s business and market development plans, particularly in offshore markets.
From 2004-2007, Mr McDonald also held the position of CEO for Connect New Zealand – where key responsibilities were to enhance technology commercialisation and enable the growth of technology and life sciences companies in offshore markets.
WASSP Ltd Chief Executive Officer, Gareth Hodson, says Mr McDonald’s appointment will further strengthen WASSP’s position as the market leader in multibeam sonar technology.

Mr McDonald says he is extremely excited about the opportunities ahead for WASSP Ltd and he was attracted to WASSP as a strong and successful technology based organisation.
“The opportunity to grow the WASSP brand in the global market is huge. From what I see, WASSP globally is very competitive and is leading the market. You only have to look at the numbers of units being used by skippers internationally to see that,” said Mr McDonald.

Mr McDonald will be on hand to showcase WASSP multibeam sonar technology at the Europort maritime exhibition in Rotterdam, The Netherlands 8-11 November 2011, Stand 1816, followed by the METS trade show in Amsterdam, 15-17 November, stand 02.121.
