Fuel discounts announced for all New Zealand motorists

AA Smartfuel today announced its first 1,000 retail outlets, which will issue fuel discounts to all New Zealand motorists from the launch of its nationwide fuel savings programme on Monday, 7 November 2011.

AA Smartfuel also announced today the exclusive fuel saving benefits for AA Members, and the details of the cents per litre discounts available for AA products.

Retail Partners

AA Smartfuel General Manager, Ian Sutcliffe, said "motorists across New Zealand will be able to earn cents per litre discounts at the following retail partners: BP, Caltex, Telstra Clear, Thrifty Car Rental, Hammer Hardware, Vehicle Inspections New Zealand, Smart Marine, Independent Pharmacies, Kitchen Studio, Nappies Direct, Chem-Dry, EYEPRO Optometrists, Holden, Take-note, Showcase Jewellers, Firestone, Dive HQ, Repco, Milestone Homes, Bridgestone Select and Aussie Butcher.

The AA will also be offering cents per litre discounts for motorists using: AA Driver Training, AA Battery Service, AA Vehicle Testing, AA Vehicle Inspections, AA Centres, AA Mechanical Breakdown Insurance, AA Auto Service & Repair, AA Licensed Repairers, AA Travel Insurance, AA Car Loans, AA Auto Glass, AA Bookabach, and aatravel.co.nz.

In addition to these retail partners, motorists in the Manawatu (where AA Smartfuel has been trialed for the past year) can earn cents per litre discounts at the Mad Butcher, The Coffee Club, Cafe Cuba, Cafe Express, LA Bakery, La Mini Market, Cafe Soskys, Delicasea, Super Seven Four Square, SSS, Carpet Court, Ink Post, Eftpos Central, Colin MacPherson Garden Centre, Living Trends/Plato, Red Hair, Heatrite, Five Star Liquor, Afc Motorcycles, Guthrie Bowron, Breakers, Hell Pizza Feilding, Cash Converters, Davis Trading, and Fueltel.

"We already have over 1,000 retail outlets across New Zealand where motorists can earn and combine fuel discounts, before redeeming their total value when they next fill up at either BP or Caltex," said Mr Sutcliffe.

Fuel Discounts

"AA Smartfuel has announced some great fuel discounts for all New Zealand motorists, and extra ones for AA Members," he said.

"Caltex service stations are offering AA Members six cents off the price of a litre of fuel, every time they spend $40 or more on fuel in the next six months. Non-Members will get four cents off per litre. With most people filling up every fortnight, AA Smartfuel is going to result in meaningful savings," says Mr. Sutcliffe.

"Most motorists need to get a new Warrant of Fitness every six months, so AA Vehicle Testing is offering AA Members an AA Smartfuel discount of 30 cents per litre, and 20 cents per litre for non-Members."

"By combining just these two AA Smartfuel fuel discounts, an AA Member will immediately get a 36 cents per litre reduction in the price of fuel. That means they would save $18 when they next fill up," says Mr Sutcliffe.

The AA Smartfuel discounts expire at the end of the calendar month following the month in which they were earned. So if they are earned this month, they won't expire until the end of December.

Future Partner Announcement

"We are excited by the retail partners we have announced today, and expect our partner village to expand rapidly once the programme goes live and motorists show their support for businesses that help reduce the cost of fuel," said Mr Sutcliffe.

"AA Smartfuel is in discussion with a number of other retail partners and we hope to announce their names and fuel discount offers in the New Year."

Cards

871,000 new membership cards have been issued to AA Members and two million free AA Smartfuel cards will be available to all non-Members from Monday 7 November at the AA, and participating retailers and service stations.

From Monday 7 November, New Zealand motorists will be able to swipe their AA Membership or their AA Smartfuel card to accumulate the fuel discounts and save money on their fuel.
