Deloitte announces appointment of new CEO

Deloitte New Zealand has announced the appointment of Thomas Pippos as the firm’s new Chief Executive.

The appointment, which was effective as of last Friday, sees Mr Pippos replace Murray Jack who now assumes the role of Chairman.

Prior to becoming Chief Executive, Mr Pippos was the firm’s Managing Tax Partner and a member of the Management Group, having been in both roles since 1999. During that time he has had a significant leadership role at Deloitte, including the development of our National Tax Practice to a position where it is now recognised as a market leader.

Mr Pippos says he is looking forward to new challenges of leading the firm and its more than 800 national team, including 85 equity partners, located across five fully integrated offices.

“The business environment is more challenging than ever but still provides opportunities for our clients and the firm,” Mr Pippos says.

Deloitte continues to be confident about the future, notwithstanding the uncertainties that exist. This is reflected by the fact that Deloitte now has 20 more partners than when New Zealand went into recession in 2008 and that we continue to add talented people to our organisation, he says.

“Having the right people, working as one team and having innovation at the forefront of all decision making is critical to business success, including our own.

“We are also fortunate to be able to draw from the scale and success of our global network to provide the best possible solutions to our clients.”

In his new role as Chairman, Mr Jack will work closely with Mr Pippos and will also continue to assist clients as a Senior Consulting Partner, in addition to his Board roles on the Financial Markets Authority and NZICA.

Thomas will lead a new Firm Executive, comprising Ross Milne, Matthew Hitch and Keith McArley, and a new Management Group.
