Award winner Tahi Estate shows value of putting energy to work

Eco-tourism operator and honey exporter Tahi Estate shows the brand value that can be gained from good energy management, says EECA General Manager Business, Richard Norris.

Tahi Estate was last night named a winner in the 2011 Sustainable Business Network Awards. It won the Trailblazer Small and Medium business award category, sponsored by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA).

"Energy efficiency is one of the cheapest ways for business to reduce its carbon footprint. In creating its sustainable brand, Tahi Estate has paid attention to how it uses energy – both improving efficiency and using renewable energy. And it’s now won a national award for what it’s achieved," said Mr Norris.

"Like Tahi Estate, many businesses are realising that lowering their carbon footprint is increasingly important in marketing New Zealand overseas. How we use energy is a big part of that equation. I'd like to commend Tahi Estate for leading the way."
