Digital Focus Wins Yellow Employer Accolad

MEDIA RELEASE
18 November 2011

EMBARGOED TO 10PM THURSDAY 17 NOVEMBER
Digital Focus Wins Yellow® Employer Accolade

A major new focus on digital and online marketing has seen Yellow® recognised as a key New Zealand employer.

Yellow was last night awarded the ‘Most Improved Organisation’ in the large business category at the ‘JRA Best Workplaces 2011’ awards.

Yellow CEO Scott Pomeroy says the company was excited to accept the award which he says is the result of six months of major business transformation.

“Our company is undergoing a period of significant change as we work towards becoming a leader in the digital marketing space. It’s an exciting area that has massive scope for our business and for our customers but we recognised early on that in order to move forward, our people were fundamental to this strategy.”

Yellow’s new online focus offers small business customers the ability to gain quality leads through its extensive range of digital solutions including the design, build and maintenance of tailored websites, online videos and Facebook business pages. Yellow can also ensure its customers’ online presence is maximised thanks to a recent partnership agreement with GoogleTM Adwords

Mr Pomeroy says Yellow’s changing customer needs were the catalyst for change.

“When we began this process, our customers were frank in telling us that they saw us as a bit of a dinosaur and what they wanted us to be was innovative, trusted and relevant to today,” said Mr Pomeroy.

“To do this, we needed to change how we did things both internally and externally. At the heart of this was a significant internal communications program which has been designed to not only support the company’s new business focus, but to also make Yellow a great place to work for our people.”

“We have completely revolutionalised the way we work and think as a team and as a result, our people are genuinely excited about where we are headed as a company, which is reflected in the results of the JRA survey.”

Mr Pomeroy says the company has worked hard to develop a completely new culture and set of values which are customer-centric and empowers people to make a difference.

“We have begun a journey that our people feel totally engaged in. They understand their role and how they can make a difference to our customers. We are now looking forward to building further momentum as not only a credible digital media solutions provider, but also as an employer that people aspire to work for in the future,” he said.
