Week Left to Win Farm Bike in Dairy Awards

There is just one week left for people to enter the 2012 New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards and be eligible to win a farm bike.

All those that enter online in the New Zealand Sharemilker/Equity Farmer of the Year, New Zealand Farm Manager of the Year and New Zealand Dairy Trainee of the Year contests before December 1 will be eligible for the early entry prize draw. One Honda Duster XR125 farm bike valued at $4000 will be drawn from early entrants in each of the three competitions.

Entries in the 2012 awards will officially close on December 20. All entries are being accepted online at www.dairyindustryawards.co.nz.

National convenor Chris Keeping says there were 285 entrants eligible in last year's draw, when just one farm bike was given away.

"We've tripled the incentive this year and therefore increased the chances of winning for three lucky early entrants. There are now pretty good odds to win a farm bike, which is a fantastic prize for an aspiring farmer.

"Certainly, it's the best incentive we've had to encourage people to get their entry in early."

Mrs Keeping says nearly 260 people had already entered the awards, including more than 120 in the popular dairy trainee contest.

The New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards are supported by national sponsors Westpac, DairyNZ, Ecolab, Federated Farmers, Fonterra, Honda Motorcycles NZ, LIC, Meridian Energy, Ravensdown and RD1, along with industry partner AgITO.

She says entrants first enter one of 12 regional competitions being held around the country. The three winners from each of those regional competitions will then progress to the national final, which will be held in Auckland in May next year.

More information on the awards can be found at www.dairyindustryawards.co.nz. Some terms and conditions apply to the early entry prize draw.
