ASB named NZ Bank of the Year 2011
ASB has been named the New Zealand Bank of the Year 2011 by London-based financial magazine The Banker. The award was announced at the international Bank of the Year awards held in London last night (this morning NZ time).
The prestigious awards salute the best banks in countries around the world based on their performances over the past year. ASB’s “strong management, sound business model and prudent risk approach” were highlighted by The Banker.
ASB Chief Executive Barbara Chapman: “This award recognises our position as a leading New Zealand bank, as measured against international benchmarks.
“ASB has always focussed on offering innovative and unbeatable service, maintaining our financial strength and stability, and supporting the wide range of communities in which we operate.
“Despite the ongoing economic uncertainty, over the past year our investment programme has increased and includes enhanced and innovative customer services, an expanded distribution network and greater efficiencies.
“We’ve launched some outstanding innovations, including the world first Virtual Branch on Facebook and online savings product Save The Change. ASB has also been unwavering in its community support, particularly for those affected by the earthquakes in Christchurch.
“I am truly delighted that we have been recognised by this award,” Mrs Chapman says.
ASB was awarded New Zealand Bank of the Year in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
