New Zealanders keep making the move -
2degrees boosts customer numbers

More New Zealanders are taking advantage of great value mobile, with 2degrees now serving 875,656 customers after two and a half years in the market.

CEO Eric Hertz says the team at 2degrees has been humbled by the speed at which New Zealanders have joined the company and says the support and response from customers will never be taken for granted.

“Almost a year ago, we were thrilled to announce that 580,111 customers had chosen 2degrees. We spent the rest of that year developing new network and products, opening new stores and focusing on our New Zealand based customer service, so it’s extremely rewarding to see that effort deliver results,” says Mr Hertz.

Included in the customer number are more than 275,000 New Zealanders who brought their existing mobile telephone numbers with them to 2degrees, signalling an end to the days where people were locked to their network by their number

Mr Hertz says the launch of business services, better value smartphones and innovative products such as the $149 plan and CarryOver Minutes had provided real freedom to businesses and consumers.

“New Zealanders are using smarter phones to make their business and personal lives easier. They’ve been frustrated by complex pricing which hits them in the wallet. Plans that provide them with ‘talk-as-much-as-you-like’ calling have been truly liberating and made the move to 2degrees a painless one.”

Mr Hertz says the last year has seen mobile users wise up to the difference between cheap headline offers and real value.

“Individual consumers and businesses have joined us in the past year because they value service, easy-to-understand pricing and coverage to 97% of New Zealand,” he says.

Mr Hertz says the team at 2degrees has grown to more than 545, with the strongest expansion in customer service and sales staff.

In the year ahead, 2degrees will continue to build network and develop more plans like the recently announced $19 Data Combo, which recognise the ‘total cost of use’ when operating a smartphone and provide great value voice, text and data.
