$5million line holiday for Northpower consumers
Northpower Media Statement
Date: 22 February,
2012
Subject: $5million line holiday for
Northpower consumers
Northpower is giving all electricity consumers connected to its network a line holiday totalling $5.3 million – effective immediately.
Northpower Chairman Warren Moyes says the Whangarei-based lines company will give its consumers across the Whangarei and Kaipara Districts credits of between $35 and $145.
A credit will appear with the description “Northpower Line Holiday” on March power accounts issued by electricity retailers operating on Northpower’s network.
The credits, which are based on energy consumption shown on individual power accounts for the past 12 months, will be distributed to all consumers connected to the Northpower electricity network at midnight, 21 February 2012.
Northpower network consumers who used between 2,000 and 15,000 units over the past year will receive a $95 credit. Consumers who used less than 2000 units will receive $35 and the large consumers (greater than 15000 units) will receive $145.
Included in the $5.3 million is a $700,000 industry rebate to consumers.
Northpower consumers recently received a distribution from the Northpower Electric Power Trust. The line holiday is in addition to that distribution.
Mr Moyes says the company is pleased to continue returning credits to the consumers who are the owners of Northpower.
“Line holidays are still considered to be the most effective way to ensure consumers directly benefit financially from the ownership structure,” says Mr Moyes.
“However, the real benefit of consumer ownership is Northpower’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, reliable electricity supply to consumers in the Whangarei and Kaipara districts.”
