Spring Creek Mine prohibition notice lifted
Solid Energy welcomes the Department of Labour’s (DoL) decision to lift its Prohibition Notice on the underground operations at Spring Creek Mine near Greymouth.
Barry Bragg, Solid Energy’s Chief Operating Officer, says the Inspectorate is now satisfied with the company’s response to the incidents. Despite the DoL notice being lifted, however, the mine would not immediately resume full underground operations.
“A return to full underground operations will not happen this week,” Mr Bragg says. “Our own internal investigations are still being completed and there will be recommendations from those which will take time to complete, especially if they involve widespread training. Until the investigations and any subsequent actions are completed, operations will not recommence.”
