UnisonFibre set to arrive in Taupō town centre.
Wednesday 7 March 2012 – UnisonFibre will this month extend construction of its ultra-fast fibre network in Taupō, with the build entering the central business district.
Unison Group Chief Executive, Ken Sutherland, said fibre was the future of telecommunications, offering a faster and more reliable solution, which would enable new ways of doing business as well as reducing costs.
“Fibre provides benefits to a wide range of businesses. It enables the use of new technology such as cloud based software and hosting, higher quality data transfer, and opportunities to increase productivity and reduce costs.”
Taupō Mayor, Rick Cooper said Unison should be commended for its initiative to bring fibre to the region, and is delighted the Taupō district business community can avail of the benefits fibre will bring.
“This is a great result for Taupō
businesses and a positive step forward for Taupō
Information is so vital in today’s marketplace, so
anything that can improve the flow of information is a real
boost,” he said.
The fibre network will extend off the
existing Spa Road backbone, and connect the town centre from
Roberts Street to Waikato Street, and between Tongariro
Street and Titiraupenga Street.
It is expected that
construction will be completed by the end of July 2012.
