New territory manager for Ravensdown agrochemicals

12 March 2012

New territory manager for Ravensdown agrochemicals means more technical advice for upper South Island

Twenty years of experience in rural agribusiness, particularly involving agricultural chemicals, has been a good background for one of Ravensdown’s new faces – Dan Pavey.

Dan is Agrochemical territory manager for the Upper South Island providing technical advice and support to Ravensdown’s account managers in his area, from Rakaia in mid Canterbury to the top of the South Island, including the West Coast. He joins an agchem team with an impressive amount of industry experience.

Ravensdown provides a range of agrochemicals for use in a variety of farming situations, including herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, plant growth regulators, adjuvants and slug control.

Canterbury born and bred, Dan started in the rural service industry with the farm merchandise company PGG (prior to subsequent company mergers). He has been based in Blenheim for the past 17 years, focussing on the grape industry in the last 10 years.

“Ravensdown has been around for a long time and has an excellent reputation and good people. With Ravensdown now doing agrochemicals, the job was a natural progression from what I had been doing, although it’s wider than just vineyards. It has been a natural fit for me really.

“My role is to assist the Ravensdown account managers – who now offer advice on fertiliser, animal health, seed and agchem. I’m there to help when they field enquiries from farmers that might need a little bit more expertise or specific information. I help the account managers deal with agrochemical requirements as well as giving the customer what they need.”

Dan and his wife Victoria have two children – Jemima is 10 and Oliver is nine. Quality family time is the number one pastime. “I’ve retired from my sports now, so we can focus more on the kids’ sport like soccer and touch rugby... and going down to the Sounds to teach them how to fish.”

About Ravensdown

Ravensdown supplies close to half of New Zealand’s agriculture fertiliser and has fertiliser operations in Australia. Ravensdown is 100% owned by farmers, providing them with sound technical advice and a comprehensive range of key farming inputs, all at the lowest sustainable cost.
