New Senior Appointment Highlights Hirepool’s Commitment to Health & Safety

Auckland, 13 March 2012 - Hirepool Limited has made a new senior appointment as it continues to strengthen its position as the country’s premier rental equipment solutions provider.

Elaine Toal has joined Hirepool as Health, Safety & Environment Manager. Previously the health and safety role was handled by the Operations Manager.

Chief Executive Mark Powell says that “while safety has long been a priority at Hirepool, having someone with considerable health and safety experience dedicated to the task, demonstrates our commitment to drive HSE performance throughout the business.”

Elaine visited New Zealand on a working holiday 12 years ago and spent a year in a technical and research role with Yates. She returned to Ireland and gained a Masters of Science in Environment Health Risk Management (Dublin) and worked in a number of health & safety roles for 9 years before moving permanently to New Zealand in 2010 where she was the National HSE Advisor at the Spotless laundry division before joining Hirepool.

Mr Powell says Hirepool takes great pride in having the most modern range of rental hire equipment in the country and was also the first hire company in New Zealand to gain ACC Workplace Management Tertiary Status Certification back in 2004 - which it still holds.

“When you have 400 staff in more than 50 branches nationwide completing more than 300,000 transactions a year, on upwards of 30,000 pieces of equipment, you can’t compromise on safety,” he says. “Having someone with her extensive HSE experience, I’m confident Elaine will play a key leadership role in the continued growth of our business.”

With the recent opening of a third branch in Hamilton, Hirepool has bought its total number of branches to 50, making it the country’s largest hire equipment company network.
