Bubbles That Don’t Cost the Earth

For fizzy drink fans, a SodaStream machine provides an endless supply of sparkling water and soft drinks, that won’t cost the earth – and we’re not just talking about dollars.

SodaStream recently received International Carbon Footprint Certification from The Carbon Trust, proving that a SodaStream machine can significantly reduce your carbon footprint by minimising the harmful impact plastic bottles and cans have on our environment.

Worldwide, over 340 billion bottles and cans are NOT recycled every year, and one bottle takes 450 years to decompose! This year, caring for the environment isn’t just about recycling – it’s about rethinking our whole green approach.

SodaStream is encouraging Kiwis to reduce, reuse and rethink their habits for Earth Day 2012, on April 22nd. If we don’t produce as much waste in the first place, we have less to deal with in the long term – less waste going to landfill and lower carbon miles associated with product manufacture and delivery.

Chris Bremner, from SodaStream NZ, says he is thrilled that The Carbon Trust has rewarded SodaStream’s global environmental efforts, and is hoping Kiwis see the value in using fewer bottles.

“Just one reusable SodaStream bottle can be used for three years, which means it can replace every bottle and can that the average Kiwi family uses in that time, which is on average around 2000,” he says.

“We’re trying to get more people to rethink their approach to recycling, and what it means to be “green” in New Zealand. Our continued efforts in sustainability make SodaStream a front-runner of environmental product initiatives, hopefully helping Kiwis to make the best choice available to them.”
