Colliers International takes out all three RICS awards again
-- Another hat-trick of commercial, industrial
and retail sales awards --
AUCKLAND, April 19 2012—For the second year running, Colliers International has won all three Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) awards at the annual RICS New Zealand global commercial property seminar and awards last night.
Chris Fossick, global vice president of RICS, presented Colliers International with the top awards in all three categories: commercial, industrial and retail. The awards were decided according to the number of sales in excess of $5 million over the 2011 calendar year, based on data provided by Real Capital Analytics and verified within the industry.
Mark Synnott, chief executive of Colliers International New Zealand Limited, said the awards were a major endorsement of the agency’s market-leading position across the three major commercial property sectors. “To be recognised as the top commercial sales agency in New Zealand for the second year running is very rewarding.”
Chris Fossick said: “Property plays a vital role in the global economy and we need to recognise that not only within our own profession but within the wider community as well. I would like to congratulate Colliers International New Zealand in taking out this year’s awards.”
Kaye Herald, managing director of RICS Asia Pacific said: “New Zealand is a major contributor to the commercial property market in the Asia Pacific region. The sheer volume of sales over the past twelve months shows the sector in New Zealand is still robust. On behalf of the RICS Oceania board I would like to congratulate Colliers International on winning the awards for 2011.”
Synnott said a number of notable sales in 2011 helped Colliers International win the three awards. These included the Chancery Carpark building in Auckland CBD which sold for $38m; the Countdown supermarket in Lynfield, Auckland ($20m); the Valley shopping centre in New Plymouth ($42m); the Ports of Wellington ($80m) and 139 Quay Street, Auckland (confidential sum).
Colliers International won the industrial and retail categories in 2010, which means the agency chalks up two other RICS award hat-tricks this year: top industrial and retail sales agency for three years in a row.
RICS is the world's leading professional body for qualifications and standards in land, property and construction. It has around 100,000 qualified members and over 50,000 students and trainees in some 140 countries.
