ASB expands its
Christchurch branch network
ASB is responding to a growing Christchurch customer base by opening a new branch in Barrington , as well as relocating its regional centre back into the city centre.
ASB’s General Manager Branch Banking Grant Gilbert says the new Barrington branch brings the total number in and around Christchurch to eight, with a further branch in Rangiora due to open in July.
“Our customer base in Christchurch is expanding, and we’ve had to move fast to accommodate demand especially with some branches suffering damage after the earthquakes. Our new branch in Barrington Mall will service our customers in the local area, and replaces a temporary portacom branch we’ve had in place to handle demand in the meantime,” he says.
“Our ASB Regional Centre was previously located in the CBD and suffered significant damage last February. Our people have been operating out of our premises in Riccarton and Hornby, however they are now able to move back under one roof at 518 Colombo Street .”
The move is taking place in two stages, with 40 staff relocating today and the remaining 30 moving across in June. “Our people are all very pleased to be moving into a more spacious premises after spending the past year squeezing in with their colleagues at other locations,” he says.
“We’re the first major bank to move our regional centre back to central Christchurch after the quakes. We see Christchurch as an area of growth, and we’re continuing to invest in both our retail presence, and in the community of Christchurch through our support of the Re:START shopping precinct and numerous community projects across the city.”
The new Barrington branch will offer the very latest in banking technology including:
• FastNet internet
banking in-branch for ASB customers to use.
•
FastDeposit - a quick and convenient way to deposit money
24/7 with immediate credit to the customer’s account .
• The latest ASB ATMs.
•
FastCount - a coin sorting machine located in the branch. No
need for customers to sort or bag coins before they come
into the branch - our FastCount machine will do this for
them.
• Fastchange – a machine that
exchanges notes for rolls of coin.
• Video
conference phones for customers to access a wide range of
ASB specialists face to face.
“Our team is looking forward to welcoming ASB customers to our Barrington branch and we invite ASB customers and local residents along on our opening day,” Mr Gilbert says.
The new branch is due to open on Monday, 30 April, with a community fun day to be held at the branch on Saturday, 5 May.
