Rodney businesses urged to enter local awards
Rodney businesses should sing about their success and salute their achievements says the organisers of this year’s local business awards.
At an official awards launch in Orewa, Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) urged local companies to embrace the 2012 Westpac Auckland North Business Awards and celebrate their contribution to Auckland’s economy.
More than 100 local business people attended the launch, which is marking its 15th season, at Orewa Arts and Events Centre.
ATEED Manager Business Growth – North, Ngaio Merrick, believes all businesses have something to celebrate.
“It’s the Kiwi way to downplay our successes,” says Ms Merrick, “But promoting what is unique and excellent about your business is a sure fire way to increase its presence in the community and its market share.”
“Entering the business awards is the perfect way to share success stories, as well as take a closer look at the inner workings of your business.”
As primary sponsor of the business awards, Westpac is right behind the 2012 programme.
“This is an outstanding opportunity for Auckland North businesses of all sizes and industries to recognise their own hard work and achievements,” says Ian Blair, General Manager of Business Banking for Westpac. “As a proud supporter of business around the country, both national and local, Westpac is thrilled to once again be associated with these prestigious awards and we look forward to acknowledging the winners.”
ATEED Chief Executive, Brett O’Riley says: “We’re proud of our association with the awards in Auckland north, west and south. By celebrating success, inspiring excellence, and building the capability of individual businesses, we want to generate more sustainable high growth businesses across the region. This can only have positive economic and social benefits for Auckland, and New Zealand."
Businesses of all sizes can enter up to three of seven categories, with all winners eligible for the Westpac Supreme Business Excellence Award.
Two extra awards, EcoPro Best Emerging Business and Simpson Western Small Business of the Year, will be selected from the overall entrant pool, where eligibility is met.
