South Island Sale Entries Close Tomorrow

Entries for the South Island's biggest thoroughbred showcase, New Zealand Bloodstock's South Island Sale of 2YOs and Mixed Bloodstock, close tomorrow, Wednesday 16 May.

To be held in Christchurch at Canterbury Agricultural Park on Friday August 10, this unique Sale of untried two-year-olds and mixed bloodstock has experienced strong growth over the last few years. Last year's two-year-old session boasted a 10% increase in average, a 42% increase in median and a clearance rate of 77%, up from 71% in 2010.

Two-year-olds offered in the Sale will also be eligible to enter the $40,000 New Zealand Bloodstock Southern Bonus Race.

For an entry fee of just $250 + GST, horses will be eligible for the $40,000 bonus in this open three-year-old race and will have preference in field selection, with the bonus won by the first eligible graduate across the line.

Of the $40,000 bonus, $30,000 goes to the owners on raceday, $5,000 to the trainer and $5,000 to the owners of the horse at the time of Sale.
