Learn how to use your computer to increase productivity
According to research commissioned by the New Zealand Computer Society, Kiwi businesses are losing approximately $1.7 billion per year in productivity due to a continuing lag in IT competence in the workplace. It is a challenge that one Kiwi company is trying to meet with personal one-to-one coaching.
Kinetics Computer Coaching, a branch of Kinetics Group Ltd which helps companies manage and maintain their IT systems, was set up three years ago in response to a noticeable trend that many users were finding it a challenge to keep up with IT upgrades.
While businesses continuously upgrade their systems, they’re not getting the most from their investment simply because employees don’t know how to get the best use from the new software. As a result, even small companies could be losing thousands of dollars in profitability (not to mention in time).
Kinetics productivity and computer coach, Susan Carlow, says while people may deliver the work required of them, the methods being used are not always the most efficient.
Susan cites research by international expert in the field of productivity, Dr Nitin Paranjape, who was in Auckland last month presenting a workshop on Advanced Productivity. Dr Nitin found that five million ‘person-days’ of time and effort are being wasted by employees in organisations worldwide every day.
“When a new IT programme is introduced into a company, it naturally takes time for employees to learn how to correctly use this technology,” says Susan. “In order to learn the ins and outs of this new tool, employees must take steps to familiarise themselves with the new system in order to equal, and ideally exceed, their previous productivity levels.”
“Our coaches work one-on-one or in small groups to teach new and improved ways to complete the tasks they do on a daily basis. The ultimate outcome is that we help enable individuals to improve their efficiency and hence their productivity. This is not only good for business, but it also improves staff morale and confidence too, making for a much happier employee.
Kinetics Computer Coaching employs a team of coaches who are available to provide customised training onsite that is tailored to the individual needs of employees at their own learning pace.
Based in Auckland, Kinetics Computer Coaching also has partners and coaching resources around the country to deliver their service to businesses across New Zealand.
