ANZIA Awards open for entries

InternetNZ (Internet New Zealand Inc) and .au Domain Administration (auDA) are pleased to announce the 2012 Australia and New Zealand Internet Awards are now open for entries.

The ANZIAs have recognised excellence and innovation for individuals, businesses, government and not-for-profit institutions that strive to improve the use and accessibility of the Internet in New Zealand and Australia since 2008.

This year, entries are being invited in six categories:

Security and privacy
Internet access and digital skills
Information
Diversity
IPv6
Innovation

The ANZIAs are open to businesses, organisations and individuals across all sectors that use the Internet to develop innovative and creative ways to reach customers, provide a service or improve the online experiences of New Zealanders and Australians.

Entries are being accepted from today (1 June 2012) to 31 July 2012. Winners will be announced at a gala dinner in Canberra on 10 October 2012.

InternetNZ Chief Executive Vikram Kumar says New Zealand and Australia are a hotbed of Internet-related innovation, with New Zealand companies more than able to keep up with the best in producing sophisticated globally-successful applications.

“New Zealand has a host of exciting projects to enter into the awards and I strongly encourage all those undertaking innovative and interesting initiatives online to enter.”

auDA CEO Chris Disspain echoes Kumar, noting that the ANZIA awards are about distinguishing the premier businesses, individuals and organisations in New Zealand and Australia that use the Internet to enrich the lives of others and advance the cause of using the Internet in positive and inventive ways.

Last year, a number of New Zealand organisations were recognised, including Aura RedEye Security, DTS Limited, Victoria University of Wellington (NZSL Online), Beek.co, the Department of Internal Affairs and Paperkut Paperless Receipts.
