Porirua Takes Two Gold Awards

Porirua Takes Two Gold Awards

Porirua Mayor Nick Leggett is "immensely proud" of two local businesses who won their categories in the 2012 Dominion Post Wellington Gold Awards last night.

Adrenalin Forest , New Zealand 's optimal multi-aerial obstacle course, won Vibrant Gold while Mana Recovery with their mantra “Rethink, reduce, reuse, repair, recover, recycle” won Green Gold.

" Adrenalin Forest has been a smashing addition to the Wellington outdoor activity offering and the Council has been happy to facilitate their use of our land beside Gear Homestead. They are about to open their fourth course in Auckland but the Porirua site, just off SH1on the Porirua Harbour , is the largest. It attracts 1000s of visitors who enjoy the confidence course in the trees.

"Mana Recovery is equally successful and diverts tons of waste from our landfill to Trash Palace helping us toward the Zero Waste goal that we set in late 2009."

Wellington City and Porirua City Councils contribute to Trash Palace which has a growing reputation regionally as a place for pre-loved items.

"Mana Recovery also provides a valuable service working with mental health consumers to give them meaningful employment. They employ dozens of local people and are leaders in environmental and sustainable practice. I'm immensely proud of both businesses."
