Joint Statement; Crighton Anderson And NZ Property Institute

Joint Media Statement; Crighton Anderson And the Property Institute of New Zealand

The Property Institute is pleased to announce Christchurch-based Crighton Anderson as the first firm to gain accreditation with the Institute in Real Property Valuation.

Accreditation is granted to firms who demonstrate they operate a robust quality management system, undergo onsite audits, and have an evaluation of recently conducted valuation reports, amongst other requirements.

“Feedback to date from firms applying for accreditation has been extremely positive, with firms reporting that an external check on their valuation reports has led to immediate improvement in their reporting processes. Key stakeholders such as trading banks and insurance companies have also welcomed the scheme as a tool for improving professional practice” said Jo Parry, Property Institute Accreditation Manager.

“The Institute sees the scheme as a key aspect of our leadership of the property profession, providing our members with a tool to prove their commitment to consistent quality. ”

Nigel Mayson, CEO of Crighton Anderson, agrees; "In our opinion, the most important regulatory function of the Property Institute is to ensure the membership adheres to the highest operational practices, and correctly and consistently applies Valuation Standards and guidance notes.

"We are always seeking ways to improve outcomes and minimise risk for both our clients and ourselves. We view the Property Institute's Quality Assurance initiative as an opportunity to refine and continually improve our own quality management system and professional standards”

The Quality Assurance and Accreditation scheme has been in development for over a year, and offers accreditation in Real Property Valuation, Plant and Machinery Valuation, Property and Facilities Management, and Property Advisory. As an accredited firm, Crighton Anderson are entitled to use the Institute’s quality assurance and accreditation mark, making them instantly recognisable as accredited.

To date, expressions of interest have been received from over one hundred firms covering the entire country. It is expected that a large number of these firms will have completed the process and received accreditation by the end of the year.

“Independent certification of quality assurance processes provides a vital point of difference for firms and will go a long way towards cementing the strong reputation of firms operating in our four professional communities” said Mrs. Parry.
