Rinnai Announces Acquisition of HJ Cooper

Rinnai New Zealand has today announced its acquisition of HJ Cooper Ltd, a New Zealand manufacturer and distributor of electric hot water systems and solar technology.

The Managing Director of Rinnai New Zealand, Ray Ferner, says the purchase is in line with Rinnai's commitment to offering total hot water and heating solutions for partners and consumers.

Ferner says HJ Cooper Ltd has carved out an enviable position in the electric hot water cylinder market with an innovative range of electric hot water and solar heating solutions.

"There was a strong logic in bringing both Rinnai and HJ Cooper Ltd together - the synergies we anticipate creating will allow us to further strengthen our respective market shares in both the New Zealand and export markets."

The new partnership offers Rinnai the opportunity to deliver new and compelling solutions to the market and is the best way forward to benefit both the merchant market and consumers, says Ferner

"The HJ Cooper brand is recognised and respected by merchants and plumbers and, by combining with Rinnai's own expertise in gas continuous flow hot water systems we will now be able to offer solutions for all hot water needs," he says.

The current Managing Director of HJ Cooper, Ivan Ramsey, has taken a position on the Rinnai executive team and will be responsible for the integration of the hot water businesses and the continued development of hot water solutions in the New Zealand market.

Ramsey says he's excited to be involved in the merger of two companies known for their commitment to producing the best in heating options for consumers, retailers and installers.

"The high degree of focus on research and development provided the basis for a great cultural fit between the two companies. We look forward to working together to continue the evolution of hot water solutions for consumers and trade," says Ramsey.

The combined operations will improve field coverage for both sales teams and the electric hot water cylinder manufacturing will be consolidated into the new Rinnai factory at Airport Oaks Auckland.
