Hawkes Bay chamber CEO
Resigns
Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce CEO Murray Douglas has announced his resignation, after nearly 5 years in the role, to focus his energies on his own successful and expanding business.
Chamber president Katja Williams said the resignation had been met with regret.
“Murray has made a valuable contribution to the Chamber and the wider Hawke's Bay business community. His passion and energy will be missed. We wish him every success in developing his family business.”
Mr Douglas said he initially joined the Chamber for three years while other business interests developed, however he stayed on as the Chamber introduced new initiatives with the formation of economic development entity Business Hawke’s Bay.
“The orchard and food processing business we have fostered has reached the point where I have had to make the hard decision to move on from the Chamber now, and focus on the family business”.
“I have been CEO virtually throughout the whole period of the Global Financial Crisis so I have experienced a most challenging period and I have seen some great responses as business adapted to the new economic world we need to work in,” Mr Douglas said.
Mr Douglas’ last day will be Friday September 28th.
