KFC Opens Lower Hutt Flagship Store

Media Release

11 September 2012

KFC Opens Lower Hutt Flagship Store

KFC is opening the doors to its newest store in the KFC network at 12pm Thursday (13th September) in Lower Hutt. The $2.8 million dollar development will be a flagship store for KFC and reveal several firsts for KFC in New Zealand.

The High Street store has been designed with customer experience at top of mind and will reveal a superb dining experience.

The store will showcase a fresh take on the interior design and will be the first fast food outlet in the country to have digital menu panels in drive-thru. It will also have new order and pick up stations designed to improve the customer experience.

KFC General Manager Brent Kitto says the store is going to deliver an enhanced service and dining experience for KFC customers.

“This is the latest store in the country and the result is outstanding. We had the ideal site to really concentrate on providing a great customer experience,” he says.

“The first thing the customer is going to notice is how spacious the store is and from the moment the customer steps inside the door they will notice changes. The only thing they won’t notice a change in is our commitment to the best tasting chicken using fresh, quality ingredients cooked in store,” says Kitto. Other features include a KFC Krush bar, digital confirmation order screens, booth and large group table seating and an all you can drink station.

The store will also be the first KFC store in the country to trial partial table service where customers can order at the counter and a host will bring the food to the table.

KFC Lower Hutt Store Manager Rena Foi is encouraging locals to come to the opening day celebrations on Saturday 15th September.

“Come down and help us celebrate our brand new store. We’ve got lots of action all day but the highlight is going to be The Edge Boyband, Titanium, who will be playing live,” Foi says.

“We’re really proud to have been part of the local community for over 35 years (since 1973) and we know locals are going to love this new store. We’re employing 60 eager locals who will help make this store an integral part of the community.”

The store will offer the usual favourite menu items but also feature KFC Krushers; the deliciously different frozen drink full of real bitz in six irresistible flavours, including Kookies‘n Kream and Strawberry Smoothie.

Two older and smaller KFC stores have been consolidated to make way for the new store, Park Ave (which closed on 28th August) and Upper Hutt (which closed on 7th September), with staff offered positions in the new store.
