Four Gold Medals for Yealands Estate Wines in New Zealand International Wine Show
Yealands Estate Wines has secured four gold medals at the 2012 New Zealand International Wine Show.
The gold medals were awarded for the Marlborough produced Peter Yealands Sauvignon Blanc 2012 and the Yealands Estate Pinot Gris 2010, while Hawke’s Bay winery Crossroads picked up gold for the Crossroads Milestone Series Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012 and Crossroads Winemakers Collection Syrah 2010.
Yealands Estate Wines owner and founder Peter Yealands is delighted with the recognition and says the four gold medals add to a string of accolades the company has already picked up this year.
“To win four gold medals across the various Yealands Estate Wines brands for four very different wines is just fantastic and tribute to the hard work of our vineyard and winery teams.”
“This takes the gold medal tally for the 2012 Peter Yealands Sauvignon Blanc to three, in addition to the trophy win at the recent Romeo Bragato Wine Awards. This continued success is clear indication of the quality of wine being produced from our Awatere vineyards,” says Peter.
A panel of 24 seasoned judges, led by Bob Campbell MW, reviewed 2,122 wines over three days of judging. Despite a record total of 224 gold medals awarded, less than ten percent of the total number of entries were awarded gold.
Yealands Wine Group secured 25 medals in total, including 4 silver and 17 bronze.
Formed in 2005, the New Zealand International Wine Show is firmly established as the country’s largest annual wine competition. Wines produced from any country and any variety can be entered.
The Peter Yealands Sauvignon Blanc 2012, Yealands Estate Pinot Gris 2010, and the Crossroads Winemakers Collection Syrah 2010 are available from Yealands Estate Wines Cellar Door www.cellardoor.yealandsestate.co.nz.
The Crossroads Milestone Series Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012 is currently produced for export only.
