Vector Network News - 23 Sept 2012

Vector Network News

NETWORKS SUMMARY for week ending 23 September 2012
There’s been some confusion around electricity pricing recently and Vector would like to provide some clarity. Vector has an online calculator to help de-mystify electricity bills for customers. The calculator illustrates the split of a customer’s electricity bill into retailer charges, pass through costs and Vector's distribution charges.

Vector's prices are regulated by the Commerce Commission. The regulations limit our annual price increases to inflation plus changes in pass through costs. Try the calculator online here.

ELECTRICITY
There were six car v poles incidents during the week including one in Clover Park. Faults crews also attended ten building fires across Auckland in Mt Eden, Grey Lynn, Randwick Park, Papakura North, Halsey Street, Avondale, Mt Wellington, St Mary’s Bay, Clevedon and a fire at a Mr Chips building in East Tamaki. Lines were repaired in Te Atatu Peninsula, Riverhead and also in Avondale where a road crossing line was pulled down by an oversize truck. Chorus contractors also struck our network in Ponsonby and hit an 11kv cable.

GAS TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION
There was one third party strike on our network in Onehunga South when a small truck backed into a gas meter. In all cases crews made sites safe and repaired the equipment. Please take care around our gas network and call 0508 B4 U WORK (248 967) or 0800 B4 U DIG if outside Auckland.
FIBRE UPDATE
Vector Fibre had a partial outage earlier in the week. Alternative routes were established and customers were back online as soon possible.
