Partnership between Blue Rovers football club, YMCA Tauranga

Exciting New partnership between the Blue Rovers football club and the YMCA Tauranga

An exciting new partnership between the Tauranga YMCA and Blue Rovers football club has sparked an exciting new season for the Summer 5-Aside Football program starting in October. This new partnership means that both organisations will be working together to create a fun and exciting season of Summer Football programs for everyone participating.

President of the Blue Rovers Dave Molloy is confident about this partnership with the hope that the program will be even more successful through relations with the YMCA. The competition will be held at the Greerton Marist Sports club. The aim of the program is to provide a fun sport for all ages and to teach kids the skills they need to play the game.

The Summer Football program is starting on the 16th of October running through term 4 until term 1. It is for age groups Year 1 through to adults so everyone can start a team! Registration forms are available from the YMCA’s head office on Devonport road and pre-registrations close at 4pm on the 28th of September. Dave says, “Last year we had only one of our teams not finish in the top 5 for their division, which is a pretty good result”.

The Summer Football program operates most efficiently through volunteers so they are looking for anyone who may be interested in helping and supporting this program. Sophie Irving the Y-Force coordinator is enthusiastic about the partnership “We hope we can help to make it as successful as it has been previously.”
