Globetrotter Hap Cameron to Speak at Sta Travel OE Event
Kiwis heading off on their big OE will be able to get advice and learn tips from OE expert Hap Cameron, who has worked in all seven continents, at STA Travel’s OE info evening on Wednesday, 24 October.
The event, hosted at IEP’s offices on Queen Street, will talk about all the different options travellers can take on their OE, including volunteering, learning or teaching overseas and working holidays in the USA, Canada and Europe.
In 2011, 133,125 people between 18 and 35 years old travelled from New Zealand overseas, with 9,513 going to the UK and Europe.
Globetrotter Hap, 30, left New Zealand in 2003 after graduating from the University of Otago, with the goal to work in all continents of the word before he turned 30.
Over eight and a half years he had 32 jobs, including helping out at a Mexican orphanage, working on a Canadian oilrig, teaching English and working as a six star waiter on a cruise ship bound for Antarctica.
He wrote a book about his experience – Hap Working the World – which is being released on Friday 29 October. Advance copies will be available on the night for purchase.
STA Travel is the largest student and young person travel company in the world, with more than 400 stores worldwide, including 18 booking outlets in New Zealand. STA Travel has been helping young travellers go on their OE for more than 30 years, with exclusive discounts for students, teachers and under 26 year olds.
Representatives from small group touring companies Contiki and G Adventures, and working holiday programme IEP, will also be speaking at the event.
There will be exclusive deals available on the night, plus all attendee will receive a welcome drink and nibbles.
People who RSVP before the event will go in the draw to win $150 STA Travel credit.
