Jetstar announces Wellington business partnership
• Jetstar and Wellington
Employers’ Chamber of Commerce formalise strategic
partnership
• Chamber sponsorship supports closer ties with Wellington business community
• New domestic services in November will add over 500,000 extra seats annually to and from the capital
Jetstar and the
Wellington Employers’ Chamber of Commerce have announced a
strategic partnership which will see the airline become one
of the Chamber’s key sponsors.
David Hall, Jetstar CEO Australia and New Zealand, made the announcement this morning at a Chamber business breakfast in Wellington.
“The Wellington Employers’ Chamber of Commerce is a strong voice for the local business community and we’re pleased to formalise our support for their work through a strategic business partnership,” Mr Hall said.
“The Chamber understands that cost-effective travel options are vital for the region’s economic health. Jetstar supports this view and offers a unique proposition for Wellington businesses, providing choice when they fly, ensuring healthy competition and helping to stretch hard-earned business dollars as far as possible.”
Jetstar recently announced it will add a ninth 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft to its New Zealand fleet in November, with most of the extra capacity to be deployed on domestic routes.
“Wellington is an important market for Jetstar, both as a business hub and a key domestic tourism destination,” Mr Hall said. “Savvy business travellers are already frequent users of Jetstar. We expect to see this increase further when our new services start on 15 November and we add over half a million extra domestic seats a year to the Wellington market in addition to the 1.1 million seats we currently offer.”
Richard Stone, President of the Wellington Employers’ Chamber of Commerce, said the strategic airline partnership would enable the Chamber to increase its offering of top quality events.
“Jetstar has shown its commitment to Wellington with its services for the past three years and we look forward to the new growth from next month.
“We are very supportive of any business that helps to improve crucial transportation links to the city. We also thank Jetstar for formalising its support for the work that we do at the Chamber by becoming one of our official sponsors.”
Jetstar started flying into Wellington when it launched New Zealand domestic services in 2009.
Jetstar offers all day, everyday low fares between the capital and Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown. It also offers economy and business class international connecting services from Wellington via Auckland to a range of Asian destinations.
