Interislander goes mobile

11 December 2012

Interislander goes mobile

Interislander has launched a mobile booking website in response to a marked increase in customers booking their travel across the Cook Strait on smartphones.

“In the past year, Interislander has had a 350 percent upsurge of visits using mobile devices to its website,” says Interislander General Manager, Thomas Davis. “The current Interislander website was designed for desktop use, and is therefore difficult to use on a smartphone.

“The new mobile version of the website will ensure customers wanting to book tickets using their mobile phones will find the process easy and more streamlined.”

Smartphone users will automatically be redirected to the mobile site when they select Interislander in their browser. There is an option to switch to the full website to access all content and more advanced functionality.
“Mobile is becoming a larger share of how people interact with Interislander and the travel and tourism market in general. A mobile website is a great way to not only to engage with visitors who browse on their smartphones on the go, but as a research tool for many travel planners.

“We understand that our customers want to interact with us via multiple channels. The new mobile website represents an important step into the mobile world that our customers increasingly inhabit,” Mr Davis says.
