InternetNZ launches Community Investment Funding Round

InternetNZ launches Community Investment Funding Round

Media Release – 17 December 2012

InternetNZ (Internet New Zealand Inc) has today launched a new one-off funding round and encourages all those interested in securing funding for Internet-related projects to apply.

InternetNZ Collaboration and Community Lead Ellen Strickland says the Community Investment Funding Round is for projects that align with InternetNZ’s Objects.

InternetNZ’s Objects – available online at www.internetnz.net.nz/content/constitution - are designed to maintain and extend the availability of the New Zealand Internet and its associated technologies and applications. They cover Internet access, operations, technical development, standards, education and research.

“If your project relates to any of our Objects and requires funding, we’d love to hear from you,” says Strickland. “We’ll consider applications from any individual or organisation.”

Project proposals must result in a tangible benefit to New Zealand. There is a $20,000 cap per project.

The application process will be in 2 stages:

Stage 1 - Expressions of Interest

Applicants submit an Expression of Interest, with a brief outline of their project.
Shortlisted applications will be invited to proceed to Stage 2.

Stage 2 - Detailed Project Proposal

Shortlisted applicants submit a detailed project proposal.
Final decisions will be made by InternetNZ's governing Council.

The first stage – Expressions of Interest – closes on 15 February 2013. Details and Application forms are at www.internetnz.net.nz/content/Community-Investment-Funding-Round.

Shortlisted applicants then have until 18 March 2013 to submit detailed project proposals. InternetNZ plans to make final decisions on the applications by 31 March 2013.

To help applicants decide whether their project might be suitable for funding, a list of projects previously funded by InternetNZ is available at www.internetnz.net.nz/content/projects-funded.
