Air Pacific Flights Returning to Normal

Air Pacific Flights Returning to Normal

As announced yesterday, Air Pacific is operating most of its flights per normal today (Wednesday) with some slight delays due to schedule impacts resulting from Tropical Cyclone Evan which passed Fiji early morning Tuesday.

The airline again thanks passengers flying today, and those who flew yesterday (Tuesday 18 December), for their cooperation and assistance with operating today and yesterday 35 flights to/from Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, the United States and other South Pacific Islands.

“We were able to resume the majority of our flights from Tuesday afternoon on a delayed or rescheduled basis,” said Dave Pflieger, Air Pacific MD & CEO. “And we are well on our way to getting back to business as usual. We expect to be almost 100% back to normal by late tomorrow (Thursday).”

“Fiji is an incredibly adept and resilient nation, and this was evident in the preparation for Cyclone Evan and now the clean up and repair work which was underway immediately following the cyclone. We’ve also had reports of tourists and other visitors, working alongside local staff yesterday and today, picking up branches and helping cleanup the resorts on Denarau – so, clearly visitors and residents alike are pulling together to restore Fiji to its national beauty.”

“In addition, our own staff here at Air Pacific responded brilliantly once again to help restart flight operations as soon as possible after the storm had passed. The fact that we were the only airline flying to and from Australia yesterday, and the first airline to bring in passengers from New Zealand is a testament to the work ethic of our team here in Nadi, and proof once again of the value of having a national carrier.”

Over the past two days, Air Pacific has operated 35 flights and flown 4,663 passengers to/from Fiji and other nearby destinations (1,495 to/from Australia, 350 to/from New Zealand).
