Vodafone response to Cyclone Evan
Following this week’s devastation caused by tropical cyclone Evan, Vodafone has announced it will credit all its New Zealand customers’ calls and TXTs to Fiji, Samoa and American Samoa. This includes residential, business and mobile calls made to landlines and mobile phones in the affected countries.
The retrospective credit applies to calls and TXTs made to Samoa and American Samoa from midnight Thursday 13 December to midnight Monday 17 December, and to calls and TXTs to Fiji from midnight Saturday 15 December to midnight Wednesday 19 December. Credit will be applied to customers’ accounts in their next bill.
Vodafone has today gifted telecommunications equipment to BlueSky Samoa to aid the recovery and rebuild.
In addition, the Vodafone New Zealand Foundation is donating $10,000 to the Vodafone Foundation in Fiji which will be used to improve damaged education, heath and sanitation facilities.
Zac Summers, Vodafone General Manager of Consumer Marketing, says it’s vitally important for people to be able to communicate with family and friends in a time of crisis.
“Our thoughts are with those overseas affected by this cyclone, and their friends and family in New Zealand. By offering to credit to our customers, we hope it’s one less thing to worry about this Christmas.
“We will continue to offer our help and support to our colleagues at Vodafone Fiji as they repair their network.”
Credits will be applied retrospectively on the January or February bill dependent on billing cycles. Prepay customers will be credited straight to their balance. The offer applies to all Vodafone and Telstra Clear fixed line and mobile customers.
