Michelle Amery Appointed Symantec Country Manager for NZ

Michelle Amery Appointed Symantec Country Manager for New Zealand

Auckland, 20 December 2012 – Michelle Amery has been appointed as the new country manager for the Symantec Enterprise and Consumer business in New Zealand, effective 1 January 2013.

Michelle has been the consumer country manager since August 2012 and will take on the expanded role reporting to Brenton Smith, vice president & managing director, Pacific region, with a dotted line to Matthew Drake, senior director, consumer business, Pacific region.

As the country manager for New Zealand, Michelle will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Symantec Enterprise and Consumer business including sales, channels, distribution and systems engineering. She will be responsible for leading the New Zealand team across both Auckland and Wellington.

Michelle first joined Symantec in 1991 and over her first 15 years with the company, held a number of senior roles including running the Latin America business, establishing the global sales operations group, and leading Asia Pacific. In 2005 Michelle left Symantec and returned to New Zealand where she was involved in the startup of two companies. Michelle has a proven track record in direct and channel sales, customer service and account management.

“I’m delighted to be back at Symantec and taking up this opportunity to lead the New Zealand business for both enterprise and consumer,” said Michelle. “Symantec has evolved tremendously in the last seven years and I’m looking forward to getting to know our customers and partners here.”

Michelle’s appointment follows the decision of Lucas Salter, current country manager for New Zealand, to relocate back to Australia for family reasons. Lucas will take on a new role based in Melbourne.

“Lucas is a highly valued member of the Symantec team and while we’re disappointed his time in New Zealand got cut short, we’d like to thank him for all he has done in this market. We’re pleased he is able to take up a new role with us in Melbourne,” said Brenton Smith, vice president & managing director, Pacific region.

“Symantec has been operating in New Zealand for more than 15 years and over this time we’ve continued to build a strong team. 2013 promises to be an exciting year with the continued momentum of trends such as mobile, cloud and virtualisation, against a backdrop of increasingly sophisticated security threats and customers dealing with the challenge of managing huge volumes of data,” continued Brenton. “Michelle is a highly experienced leader and we’re delighted to have her take on this new role.”
