East Coast benefit study release

Media Statement 7 March 2013

TAG Oil said today it was pleased that central Government had engaged with local councils and other key stakeholders on the East Coast over oil and gas exploration.

Chief Executive Garth Johnson said TAG - has long believed the region could hold significant oil and gas reserves.

Mr Johnson said the company would study the report in detail before making any detailed comment.

“A huge amount of work has been done studying the region and much remains to be done before we know exactly what we’re dealing with,” he said.

“We all have a part to play to ensure any exploration or future oil and gas production on the East Coast is carried out and controlled in a safe, sensible and pragmatic way,” he said.

“For our part we will carry out all work on the East Coast in the same careful, methodical and safe way that we have worked in Taranaki for over a decade,” Mr Johnson said.
