Rabobank opens new premises in Invercargill
More than 80 local farmers and rural professionals gathered in Rabobank’s new purpose-built premises last night to celebrate the official opening of the bank’s new Invercargill branch.
Located at 243 Dee Street, the main thoroughfare in Invercargill, the state-of-the-art Rabobank branch is in prime position to service the farming community in the Southland region.
Speaking at the official opening, Rabobank branch manager Invercargill David Clarke said he was thrilled with the turn-out of clients and local community “friends and faces” who attended the branch opening event.
“The number of guests who joined in celebrating this special occasion with the Rabobank team is really positive and highlights the two-way relationships we have with the farming network in the region,” he said.
“It’s great to share this event with people who have been integral to supporting Rabobank over the years, and we look forward to returning this community spirit in the future.”
Rabobank first made its mark on the Southland region when it acquired PGG Wrightson Finance in 1998.
Mr Clarke said the brand new Invercargill office symbolised the commitment the bank has made to the Southland area, firmly cementing its roots for the long-term.
“Since opening in Invercargill, Rabobank has significantly grown its client base which has reinforced the need to expand into a new office space,” Mr Clarke said.
“The growth is testament to the experience of the branch team here – we have seven managers, five support staff, with room for more here in the office – the most experienced rural lending team in the district by a long way.”
Rabobank CEO New Zealand Ben Russell also attended the celebration and said the bank’s agricultural focus meant its staff had built strong relationships with farming clients in the Invercargill area, with their in-depth knowledge of finance and understanding of the cyclical nature of agribusiness really helping to support the farming community through good and lesser times.
“The expansion of Rabobank’s business in the Southland area is a natural fit – the region is a reliable farming district and holds a lot of promise for the long term,” Mr Russell said.
“We’re only too pleased to be working with our clients here and feel confident about the future of agriculture in this region.”
