Fastway Wellington 2IC goes the extra mile for Oxfam

Carl Simons, Business Development Manager at Fastway Couriers Wellington, is preparing to set a blistering time in this year's Oxfam Trailwalker and play his part in raising over $10,000 for charity in the process.

Simons, his partner and two friends make up the Adventure Wellington Waygone Walkers, who are aiming to complete the 100km trek around Taupō in almost half of the allotted 36 hour time frame.

"At Fastway, we're always talking about going the extra mile for our customers and the community. Walking 100kms for charity is a great way for us to show that commitment in a very literal sense and support Oxfam's continuing work fighting poverty around the world," says Simons.

Simons says his team is undergoing 25-35km walks every weekend on and around the hills of Wellington and a 6-10km walk every night to prepare.

"It's a great challenge for a great cause. We're very serious about completing the trek in less than 22 hours and, along with three other teams, are working hard to achieve our goal of raising more than $10,000 for Oxfam," says Simons.
