SURVEY RESULTS SHOW 1.46 MILLION KIWIS TUNE IN EACH WEEK
#
MediaWorks Radio has increased its lead as the radio company with the most listeners in New Zealand.
The results are part of the latest radio survey, released today by TNS New Zealand, which shows 1.46 million New Zealanders tune into MediaWorks Radio stations each week (All 10+).#
In the all-important 25-54 demographic, MediaWorks Radio maintained its number one position.^
In the competitive music market, JJ, Mike and Dom on The Edge remain the most listened to Breakfast show* in the country while Fletch and Vaughan, for the first time, have taken the number one Drive position nationwide.^^ The Edge remains the station with the most listeners with more than 450,000 Kiwis tuning in each week, more than 100,000 listeners than their main competitor, ZM. #
More FM was number one in the coveted National Main Grocery Shopper with Kids demographic 5.30am-9am weekdays,** while Marc Ellis, Hayley Holt and Stu Tolan enjoyed continued growth in both Auckland and Wellington.^^^ And in Christchurch, More FM (with Simon Barnett and Gary McCormick on Breakfast) remains the biggest music station. ^^^^
Urban station Mai FM was a stand-out performer gaining 36,400 listeners across the country, and now has over 210,000 listeners each week.# The new Mai Mornings Breakfast show of Nickson, Nate and Kanoa debuted well, adding 19,100 listeners in the past six-months. ##
Belinda Mulgrew, CEO MediaWorks Radio comments:
"Another very pleasing result for MediaWorks Radio. The fact that Mai and The Edge remain the country’s biggest youth brands in an increasingly challenging media-market is credit to the brands. Along with solid results for The Rock (who remain the number one Station for all Males and for workplace listening) and The Breeze, we also now have The Sound cemented in the radio landscape. We’re in great shape.”
