New Managing Director for Bupa Care Services New Zealand

Global healthcare group Bupa has appointed Gráinne Moss to lead its New Zealand health care business, Bupa Care Services (BCSNZ).

Gráinne has a successful history with Bupa Care Services NZ, joining in 2007 and is currently General Manager- Care Homes and Bupa Rehab. In this role she has overseen the running of Bupa New Zealand’s 49 Care Homes working with over 3500 employees, customers, key stakeholders and funders to ensure that Bupa provides the best person centred care in NZ. Gráinne and the wider BCSNZ team have done this with great success.

Prior to her time with Bupa, Gráinne had a number of roles in the National Health Service in the UK and worked at both Counties Manukau and Waikato DHBs. Gráinne holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from Liverpool University and gained an MBA from IMD (Switzerland). At IMD she won a number of academic awards and graduated with honours.

Bryan Mogridge, Chairman of BCSCNZ, welcomed Gráinne’s appointment saying;

“It is very satisfying to have one of our New Zealand team taking over this role from Dwayne Crombie, who is being promoted to be MD of Bupa’s health insurance group in Australia. Gráinne is an outstanding leader who is more than capable of leading Bupa New Zealand in achieving its ambitious goals. Her background with BUPA and experience in health will be invaluable as we continue to explore new opportunities for Bupa to play a broader role in New Zealand’s healthcare sector.”

Gráinne has lived in New Zealand with her husband and four children since 1997. As well as her achievements in health Gráinne has also had a considerable career as an international swimmer. She was the first Irish woman to swim the English Channel, represented Ireland at international level and in 2001 swam the Cook Strait.

BCSNZ is part of the global Bupa Group a leading international healthcare company. The New Zealand business unit has three aged care businesses; rest homes and hospitals; retirement villages and personal medical alarms, plus a brain injury rehabilitation business. Bupa is responsible for caring for more than 16,000 New Zealanders employing over 3400 staff.
