Lakes Environmental Chief Executive Resignation

In response to media inquiries, the Queenstown Lakes District Council today confirmed that it has been advised by Lakes Environmental Limited of the resignation of its Chief Executive Hamish Dobbie, QLDC Chief Executive Adam Feeley said.

The Council was grateful to Mr Dobbie for his contribution and wished him well in his future. ‘With Hamish’s departure, the priority is to ensure that there is a very quick and smooth transition. In discussion with the Board, we will be able to confirm the details of those arrangements very shortly, including the appointment of an interim Chief Executive to work with QLDC on the transition,” Mr Feeley said.

Council confirmed last month that it would disestablish its two Council Controlled Organisations – Lakes Environmental Limited and Lakes Leisure Limited, with staff to be integrated into Council subject to the current Organisational Review.

Mr Feeley said that it was important to offer staff some stability in a challenging environment. “The staff at Lakes Environmental understand the need for business as usual, and I have no doubt that they will continue to provide a very professional service ,” he said.

QLDC acts as both shareholder and has two directors on the Lakes Environmental Board. “This way we are fully informed regarding the transitional arrangements for bringing Lakes Environmental's work back to QLDC and able to ensure a business as usual approach,” Mr Feeley said.

Council’s intention and priority was to ensure a seamless integration for the community, particularly in regard to the consenting process.
